ENOUGH ALREADY!!!  A Plague on Both Your Houses!!!

Excuse me for borrowing the Bard’s line.  But, it presents my position better than I could possibly do myself.
I sadly admit to being a registered Republican.  But, that party has been an embarassment for at least the past 8 – 12 years.  They seem to have forgotten their underlying principles and battle cry of LOWER TAXES and SMALLER GOVERNMENT.  They also seem to have forgettn that there are 300+ million people in this county they are supposed to represent.
I’ve considered joining the Democrats.  But, they are just as bad.  They’ve been a minority in Congress for so long that they forgot how to do anything but seek political advantage on EVERY ISSUE.  They have forgotten they made promises that they either didn’t intend to keep or now can’t figure out how to keep.  Apparently, they don’t know how to find solutions that work.  All they know is how to find a political advantage in every issue -. that will get them re-elected.
Until today, I’ve just complained quietly to my friends.  I “steamed” over the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS we are paying in taxes to support a government which is doing NOTHING.   OK, they are fighting a couple wars.  And, that’s a topic of its own for later.  But, what have they really done about the cost of oil, the housing and mortgage crisis; the cost of health care; and, last but certainly not least, the bankrupt social security system?
Today I decided I have finally had enough.  Enough of politics as usual in Washington!  Enough of Congress and the President doing NOTHING to solve the country’s problems!  Enough of partisan Republicans and Democrats ignoring the wishes of the majority of the good citizens of the supposedly UNITED STATES of AMERICA!
Those of us who actually work for a living would have been fired a long time ago if we accomplished NOTHING like Congress.  And, apparently, Congress doesn’t realize that having an approval rating with the American public is actually lower than that of the President is NOT a good sign.  It means that short of throwing the bums out, they’ve been given their report card.  And, it says very clearly that they NEED IMPROVEMENT.
I decided to create this BLOG to express my opinions on what is going on – or, more correctly ‘NOT GOING ON’ – in Washington.   And, I’ve set up this web site for those who feel as I do – that we deserve better – to express their feelings AND to help push Washington to do the job we’re paying them for.
